![]() Technically, adding equal amounts of pure cyan, magenta, and yellow should produce black. This leaves nothing: the subtractive mix of yellow, magenta and cyan = white– blue– green–red = black. The cyan pigment absorbs red while the yellow pigment absorbs blue. The diagrams below shows cyan and yellow paint mixed together. Now we shall do the same with cyan, yellow, and magenta. You can also pair it with yellow and magenta-two other colors in the subtractive color model. Cyan combines well with its complement, red.
